Coco Kitchen opened on Ahangama’s coastal road, a stretch of Sri Lanka’s south coast better known for its surf breaks than its dining rooms and that’s exactly the gap we set out to fill.

The idea was simple: island-style cooking, done properly, in a room built for long evenings rather than quick turnovers. Devilled classics, Jaffna-style curries, and wok-fired plates from the kitchen; Ceylon arrack reworked into originals from the bar. No dress code, no rush just good food and a full glass, served to a room that fills up slowly from sunset onward with surfers, regulars, and travellers who found us by word of mouth.

That’s still the whole idea today.
